Join The Dots takes a random selection of lines of dialogue, assigns them to several characters and challenges you to fill in the blanks.
As a writing exercise, it might help stimulate you to write something new or unexpected.
Using the controls at the top of this page, select the numbers of characters, pages and the density of random lines, then click the Dottify button to create a scene to work with. You can regenerate as many times as you like until you find something that looks intriguing. You can then copy the scene into a word processor and work on filling in the blanks.
If you're feeling generous, once you have generated a script, you can type a fresh line of dialogue into the box at the bottom to help other writers.
You can add as many new lines as you like; the more the merrier; however do try to create lines which would lend themselves to working in this context, since you never know where they might appear. Also, try to be helpful; all lines are vetted before being added to the main pool.
Have fun. Do feel free to send me feedback on Twitter @nicalderton.
